This project depicts the scenario happening in Soviet Russia. The Soviet’s ideology was to achieve a totalitarian, crime free, state. Scientists were commissioned by the government to explore genetic causes behind offending behaviour. Blood and tissue samples from convicted offenders revealed an unnatural hormone. This hormone demanded a consistent flow of adrenaline that is only produced by experiencing violent behaviour. Research found that this hormone originates from being subjected to excessive violent imagery during early childhood and can develop in any normal person. The researchers looked for methods to control the hormone. They devised a state of the art chamber to constrained offenders while exposing them to vivid fluorescent lighting. Subjects fell into a hallucinogenic state and as they began to sweat, violent audio sounds were played to increase adrenaline.
This experiment provokes concern for our societal values, where humans promote aggressive tendencies. It suggests that this is happening to all of us everyday in an unconscious state resulting in real consequences. |
